Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Question: " I am at work, and I cannot connect to the scanner stream." Answer: Many businesses / corporations have firewalls blocking incoming and outgoing connections. You might have to have your IT department unblock the ports for you.
  2. Question: "I am unable to connect to the scanner from home, what's wrong?" Answer: If the stream won't connect, most likely it is a firewall issue. Disable your software firewalls if you have any, and/or call your isp for help opening the port on your router.
  3. Question: "What time of the day is the scanner available online?" Answer: At this time, the scanner is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  4. Question: "I've been listening for about 10 minutes now, and nothing is coming across?" Answer: In large cities this wouldn't be a problem, but around here fortunately we don't have a high crime rate or tons of fires / injuries. This is why the scanner may be silent at times.
  5. Question: "I am listening online, but also listening on my home scanner. Why does the online version have a delay?" Answer: The scanner is being broadcasted from here in Pittsburg, to a remote streaming server in Texas where it is re-distributed to users. Sometimes due to network traffic, the feed ( what you hear ) can get a little behind since what your hearing is traveling to texas and back to your home. Most of the time the delay is an average of 20 seconds.
